On 12 July 2018 I received this message: "Yello! Thank you for subscribing to YellowDot TV @ R2.02/day. 1st day FREE. Watch now http://bit.ly/2tgs318 . To opt out dial *464*970#. Ts&Cs mtnplay.co.za For support dial 135"
I immediately phoned 135 and reported the matter. I did NOT subscribe to this. I was told by the MTN operator that it has been cancelled, and that I cannot load airtime for 24 hours!
Then, on 13 July 2018 I got this message: "Reminder:Your first day free access to YellowDot TV has ended. You will now be charged 2.02/day.To opt out dial *464*970#.Ts&Cs mtnplay.co.za For support dial 135"
I again reported it to MTN, and logged a complaint on the MTN website. I have not received any response. I used the *136*5# code to check subscriptions and it showed none. I looked at my account online, and it also showed no subscriptions.
Today 19/07/2018, I get this message: "REMINDER: You are subscribed to YellowDot TV at R2.02 per day. To Opt out dial *464*970#. Your next renewal date is tomorrow."
I AGAIN phoned 135 and the operator could see the that the subscription is active, and told me that is now cancelled, and again, I cannot load airtime for 24 hours.
I want to know how my number got subscribed to this. (I am a software consultant by trade and personally advise people of ****s and ways in which they fall for subscriptions, I definitely did NOT subscribe myself to this). I also want a full refund of every cent subtracted from my account for this.
I've been with MTN for about 15 years now. If I don't get a satisfactory response and refund from MTN, I will certainly consider a different service provider when my contract is due for renewal in a few months. Breach of trust is a show stopper for me.
