Unauthorised Debit
In September 2024 I got a call from MTN offering me an upgrade to my account/contract which I accepted not knowing that its the start of my horror. I received a router with no sim card and a Debi mandate of R1800 yet we agreed on R300 for the contract. I declined the Debi mandate because that is not what we agreed on. MTN debited R830.49 from my account on the 25th of Sep 2024. At this time I had only received a router without the sim for data. I called MTN and spoke to Bongani on cancellation of the contract and he promised that I will not be liable for any cancellation fee as I have not received any service from MTN. I further went to MTN store in Polokwane, Mall of The North and Thabang who was very patient and helpful, helped me with the cancellation again and the reference for the cancellation is ***. I called MTN again on Monday the 14th of October 2024 to make a follow up on the cancellation, I was told to return the router in store which I did on the 16th of October 2024. The reference for the returning of the router is FRMSZ149012. Again on the same day we made a follow up with MTN on the cancellation of the contract and i was given yet another reference of ***. On the 25th of October 2024 and November 2024 my account was debited R621.21 again and at this point i am surprised why i am still debited for service i am not receiving. I decided to reverse the payment of the 25th of November 2024, my account was suspended and i am told to pay the R621.21 before it could be reinstated.
I called MTN on the 20th of December 2024, spoke to Luyolo, who was so clueless on what he was doing spending close to an hour doing nothing. Still my contract is not cancelled after so many attempts.
