Unable to cancel MTN contract

I am living abroad but kept my MTN number for banking purposes. I sent an email to retentions on 2 November 2023 to cancel the contract, but nothing is happening, even after numerous follow-ups. I am frustrated as I have to keep paying the contract fee and cannot find a way to disconnect the line.
