UNABLE TO CANCEL CONTRACT

I have a contract with MTN which ends on the 31st October 2015. I called into 808 to cancel my contract and switch the sim card over to prepaid. The consultant stated they would send an email through to the cancellation team. The 31st October 2015 comes and goes and I get a debit charge for my final payment.
The end of November passes and I still get debited on the 01 December 2015 for R145.
I called 808 on the 2 December and the consultant states there was a request but there was a problem with it. She resubmitted the email.
No one called. I then called 808 back for the thrid time on the 16th December 2015 in the morning (7:45AM), consultant stated she will resubmit the email again however she does see there was a request with no response. She gave me the number for cancellation ***) which does not exist.
I then called 808 again and the consultant states I must pay as there is an outstanding balance of R145.
I'm trying to call *** but no one is answering.

Why must I be running up and down to cancel this contract with MTN? Looks like they are deliberately abusing the contract T's and C's.
Thank you for your time.

Please take note that the contract has been cancelled and the cell number has been converted to prepaid as per your request. Please allow +-2-24 hours. You will received a SMS to notify you that the sim card is now on pre-paid.

The last debit order will be for R 145.00 and this will be debited on the 4th due to the 1st on Public holiday.
