Trying to cancel MTN contract and been on hold for over an hour!!!

I'm currently trying to cancel my contract with MTN. I was told I have to chat to the retentions department. I've been on hold for over an hour and my call has not been answered. It's so easy to take out a contract with MTN, but a mission to cancel it :-|
