Trying to cancel contract.

My contract has come to the end and I now wish to go PAY-AS-YOU-GO as I do not require another/replacement handset. When I go to the MTN branches to cancel I am informed that this must now be done via 808. The problem is that 808 (RETENTIONS) do not answer their phones and I am forced to hang up after 20+ minutes each time I call. How can I cancel my contract (which expired on 17 October) if I don't have access to your process. I have now already missed a month due to not being able to contact you before end of October.

Thank you for your post.

We sincere apologized for any inconvenience incurred.

We pick up that cell number *** has been upgraded on the 1-6-2016 the contract expire date is now 2019-06-01, the upgrade was done at Cell Network Kenilworth Western Cape.

The cancellation cannot be done due to the upgrade done on the account.

If you have not approved the upgrade we do require a affidavit and ID copy to send the request to the ***** department for investigation.

Please take the affidavit and clear ID copy to any MTN dealership to log the ***** request for you.

Kind Regards,

Alice van der Merwe

Best regards,

MM

This is NOT the cellphone I am requesting contract closure. This is my contact number so that you can contact me. Please read the request PROPERLY. The reference number on this complain refers to the number I am trying to terminate. ( ********** 988)
