Transferred to a new contract without my permission

I have been a satisfied MTN customer for over 10 years.

At the beginning of June I was due for a contract upgrade, so prior to this I went to Gateway MTN shop and investigated available offers and phones. I received great assistance from the people there and left with advice to call the call centre and order my new contract when I was ready.

I called the MTN call centre a few days later and said I wanted to get a contract and phone. I spoke to Kgosi. He said the phone I wanted wasn't available so he wouldn't action anything until it was available and would contact me when it became available so that I could begin a new contract. I asked Kgosi for a reference number for the call for future and he gave me the following: UV ********** .

Shortly after speaking to the call centre I went overseas for a week. Whilst overseas, I was notified via SMS that I have been successfully upgraded to a new contract and my upgrade was due in 2019. I had not given Kgosi permission to upgrade me because the phone I wanted was not yet available.

When I returned to SA I went to Gateway MTN to report what had happened. They informed me that the number I had received from the call centre was a contract reference number and not a call reference number. They said they would log a ticket to investigate why I had been transferred to a new contract without my permission and cancel it. This was two weeks ago.

SInce then I have not received any update on the status of my contract and I am currently paying for a contract for a phone that I don't even have. This is the reason why I have taken to posting a terrible review for your business on Hello Peter.

I would like some answers and a resolve ASAP please.

Thank you

Hi Ayanda,

Thank you for replying.

I went to MTN Pavilion yesterday and Sikelelwa also escalated a query to your team, since no action had been taken as yet. All the people I have dealt with have been extremely helpful, but I am still paying for a contract I did not authorise.

I await a call from your team to explain exactly what happened and to rectify this issue immediately.

Thanks
