Threatening SMSs and system error force users to pay twice, but no refund.
I have had an MTN contract for close on 30 years. In those 30 years, I have never once missed a single payment. On the 1st of March, I received an SMS telling me that my debit order had failed. This was strange, as there was money in my account. I then later received a 2nd SMS telling me I would not be able to make calls. Worried that I'd be cut off, I made an EFT payment to MTN on the 1st, but then at midnight on the 1st, the debit order also went off. So I've now paid twice.
I sent an email to their so-called customer care email address, demanding an immediate refund. This was early on the 2nd of March, 6am more or less. They promise a turnaround time of 8 hours, but, needless to say, not a word from their so-called customer services department. Then, at 9pm on the 2nd, I get another SMS informing me that the original SMS was sent out in error. Well, gee, thanks, MTN, but where the HELL is my refund????
I now paid twice for this month, each payment in excess of R2000, due to your profound incompetence, but now you just ignore me?
To call this execrable lack of service ****py, would be to insult feces. Rank, amateurish nonsense.
