Thieving MTN and their "Content Services"

I have a serious complaint regarding MTN and their so called "content services". I have 3 contracts with MTN for many years now - since my wife and I have gotten cellphones but unsolicited MTN content services is going to be the cause of me cancelling all my contracts and taking my money elsewhere. If I could give a minus star-rating, I would do it.

I had a wireless internet modem with which was used until March this year, but I've picked up that MTN has been slowly debiting more and more money since last year. The normal amount has always been R748 - this isn't an open contract. When I questioned this problem with MTN they said it's due to content services. I asked them to cancel all content services, but it just never stopped. It just comes back automatically and the money debited just escalated drastically since then despite me cancelling. MTN also couldn't tell me exactly what the content services are, but were taking my money nonetheless. All they could say is I had to make contact with WASPA for further information, which is did numerous times, but all I was told is that my number is nowhere in their systems and it's not content services from them. They just referred me back to MTN and vice versa. This has been infuriating. Every time I cancel it, it just re-appears until I was forced to cancel the actual contract, after I had used it for +/- 10 years. This was an uncapped internet closed contract, that I never had any problems with UNTIL June 2017 when I realized MTN is deducting more than usual.

The total amount MTN took is about R16604. 80, but there were extra money deducted as well. I canceled the contract and made a reversal at the bank, but only managed to get R5200 back so I want the outstanding amount of +/- R11000 back. I have called customer services at MTN numerous times but there is a problem on their side and I have gotten NOWHERE. I have about 15 reference numbers for these calls which I've listed below. Ref ********** 4 Ref ********** 19 Ref Smc/ ********** 9281 Ref ********** 90 Ref ********** 70 Ref ********** 53 Ref 1- ********** 0476 Ref 1- ********** 1866 Ref ********** 4 Ref ********** 19

Unfortunately I didn't keep record of the first conversation with customer care because I didn't realize it would escalate like this. I want my money back and my other 2 contracts reinstated as they have been blocked by MTN.

I would never recommend MTN to anyone ever again.
