Prior to switching off my cell phone on friday, 09/03/2017, I had an airtime balance of R38.00 on my cell phone. My cell phone remained off until I switched it on again at 9am on 12/03/2017. The balance was now R11.00. I called MTN. The first consultant told me to call back after two hours as there was a problem with their system which did not properly reflect my account info. Two hours later the second consultant alleged that I had made calls to another MTN cell phone number during the time I told him my phone was off. I asked for proof of this and he said I should SMS my e-mail address to 30988 and MTN would send me a billing statement. Eight hours later when the statement had still not arrived I called MTN again and the third consultant now alleged that I had used the internet while my phone was off, and further stated that my phone had deducted my airtime because I had no data bundles. When I told the consultant that I currently had 80MB on my phone, she stated that I should visit my nearest MTN store for further assistance. MTN service/network has really gone to the dogs! I am changing to another network.

Thank you for your post.

We apologize for any inconvenience incurred.

We have checked the transactions from the sim card and cannot pick up any transactions for the 9th of March.

The system reflected that you had R11.40 airtime left on the 10th of March

You have made use of the airtime by using the short code*120*3279# transaction x 13 charge will be 20c per transaction.

You have loaded R10.00 and the balance now R20.40.

If you require the itemised billing report you need to contact the 173 department again and they will send to you the form to be completed before the itemized billing report will be send, we do not have access to the 173 systems.

Kind Regards,

Alice van der Merwe
