Good day.

I need a question answered urgently, I have called the call centre countless times and been to more than one store to no avail. I want to convert from contract to prepaid but I am told that I have to forfeit all my accumulated airtime when I do so. I have not been paying for a phone since November 2015 but carried on without upgrading so that I would keep getting the airtime as it was convenient for me. Now that I want to cancel my contract but stay within the network as a prepaid customer you want me to loose over R800 worth of airtime. According to the Consumer Act under section 14 point 3(b) "THE SUPPLIER MUST CREDIT THE CONSUMER WITH ANY AMOUNT THAT REMAINS THE PROPERTY OF THE CONSUMER AS OF THE DATE OF CANCELLATION". So can somebody please explain to me why I should loose all the airtime that I have paid for or be forced to use it up within a month? To me this seems to go against everything the Consumer Act stands for.
