Yesterday afternoon - my phone completely lost it's network connection. I restarted , kept the phone of for 1+ hours, factory reset and tried the sim in another phone (the sim works) - tested with another network's sim in my phone (this still did not work).
Went to Stoneridge MTN - they said I should go to Greenstone MTN.
Spent 30 min at Greenstone MTN where the consultant kept trying to add new APN settings and kept on saying that Stoneridge often does this where they send the customers to them. After 25 minutes of fiddling with my phone's default settings he said it's rejecting the APN settings.
1 - I have no idea why he would fiddle with those settings if my complaint was NOWHERE NEAR a data connection problem . I am literally not getting any signal whatsoever. 2 - He indicated I have 3 options (I was so annoyed at this point I did not really pay attention) - Something about they can send the phone in but this would take 3-6 months. Obviously not an option -Alternatively, I can take the phone to Samsung to be repaired myself - but they would require an invoice for purchase to check if the warranty is still valid. The consultant was unable to provide me with this as the phone's IMEI number was not showing on their system. Because apparently it's because I used MTN Direct (online and telephonic) to get my contract.
After a disappointing drive back to the office to find my invoice I discovered that I don't have such documentation.
I then phoned ********** to get the invoice or copy of contract. Miyeshni answered the call ( have the call recording ) and indicated they're unable to assist me and that I should phone ********** to get this.
I phoned the above number -3 times . The longest I held was 12 minutes. I refuse to spend my time to sort out MTN's lack of a central system where they can access all the required information. The online facility is pathetic to say the least.
2 years ago it was a nightmare to adjust 1 bolt on item on my contract and last year it was a mission to get them to change my address. This is it - I'm fed up with MTN's pathetic service - from the call centre to the MTN consultants in the shop to the useless online system.
Get me a copy of my contract - so I can have my phone repaired and then I can wait for the contract to expire in peace and then move over to some other network .
