Terrible service from MTN Home WiFi
I signed up for the MTN home wifi deal. It's month to month and you can cancel anytime, apparently.
I tried them for 2 months and after being *VERY* frustrated, I cancelled mid July even though I paid for the full month in advance.
I contacted MTN and was told to return the router to a MTN store, which I tried to do but the staff said they don't accept router returns because they are handled by a 3rd party.
I contacted MTN *again* and then was told to contact Mondo, their sales partner to arrange for the router to be collected. I did so and was told (by a very confused individual) that I should arrange for the router to be collected by MTN.
Then on the 14th of July, my bank account was debited with an amount of R2,499.00, reference MTN SP.
I was like, what is this for?
No communication from MTN. Nothing. So I Googled and saw that *if* you cancel and don't return the router to a MTN store, you will be charged for the router.
So now I’m trying to get a refund and to get the router back to them, which seems impossible.
MTN have asked me for a bank statement showing the amount but FNB bank statements only run until the 12th of each month, so that’s not going to show the amount coming off.
So I sent them a screenshot from my banking App. Nope, not happy with that either.
So what now? Must I wait until the middle of August when the updated July statement will be available and then beg for my refund?
Honestly. MTN make it sound like they are doing you a favour with their “cancel anytime” policy, but their customer service has been appalling.
Learn from my mistake and do not sign with them.
