Terrible Billing After Refusing To Renew Contract

Where to begin. One just needs to look at MTN SP ratings and financial troubles to see why they are trying to wring every last cent out of clients...

I had a long-running contract with MTN for years and years. After various billing issues, bad network service and even worse customer service I decided to change to change to Telkom, who has been a pleasure.

My final upgarde ad 2 year stint with MTN was hampered for a few months by the staff strikes which ended in July 2015. This meant that my 24 month contract would end in June 2017. I ewnt to MTN Northgate on the 8th of June 2017 and filled in the paperwork and one month notice that the contract must not continue on a month-to-month basis. I paid the amount required in advance of R559 (279pm contract x2 months and some change). I considered the matter settled.

Months later they had not processed the cancellation and then continued to bill me. I then went in on the 17th of October 2017 to see what the issue was. I was told that I hadn't cancelled and that I needed to present the documentation (which I did). They then processed the cancellation as the 17th of October 2017... I told them that wasn't on and they must sort it out. I went back yesterday (30th of October 2017) to be told that it had now become a legal matter and I still owed MTN SP R3.46c out of nowhere (which was promptly paid). I was taken aback at their stance, as in a previous Hello Peter post I had also indicated how they billed me for ~R2500 in error and refused to refund me and instead credited me. I need them to just sort their issues out so that I never have to deal with MTN SP ever again.

I hope this serves as a warning to anyone considering an MTN contract, rather choose any other cellphone provider!
