Telephone number reallocated **********ly

On the 31st of May our MTN cell phone number decided to stop working. Upon phoning the 083 135 customer contact number, we were informed that we had cancelled our number and that this number which had been ours for 30 odd years had been allocated to someone in Bethlehem. This is clearly *****, as we had done no such cancellation. It's been 10 days now, with no resolution to this matter. I have requested access to the audiotapes where we cancelled our number, but was told that we would need to get a court order to get access to these tapes. I don't understand how our number can be given to someone else immediately and why it takes so long for the number to be returned to us. Obviously our personal information has been put at risk through this ********** act. I get no feedback from MTN and am at my wits end trying to resolve this issue.
