Taking the `service' out of customer service

I have been having problems with my WhatsApp. It wasn't working on data, but was working on WiFi. Maps, however, was working on data, so it couldn't be a data issue. I went to the MTN service centre in Morningside to see what the problem was. One of the conusltants was helping me, saying that I had depleted my 300MB, which had been loaded on 8 May. Today is 11 May. I told him it was impossible as I am mostly on WiFi and my background data is restricted. Long story short, he called over a woman, who was unbelievable rude and dismissive. They spoke to each other about my problem, in a language I don't understand, completely ignoring me. He would say something to her, but she was busy on her phone, so he had to repeat himself several times. They would both chat to other people, walk away, come back, basically not focussing on the trouble at hand. Then the gentleman said that he couldn't sort out the isue now because I would have to wait until June 8 until my monthly report was generated. I told him that was unacceptable. He then called over a third guy, and they all talked about the problem as if I wasn't there. Turns out the problem was that my updates would take place on WiFi, wouldn't finish, and then continue once I was on data, thus depleting it. So I asked how to prevent that. The third man asked the woman to help me with that. She talked to him about me, how she doesn't know how I do stuff. Let's be clear. I was standing right there. I lost it. The attitude was condescemding and unbelievably rude. They are the experts. That's why I went there for help! I do not need to be made to feel like an idiot and spoken about in the third person. When you are attending to me, I expect your FULL attention, not people playing on their phones and chatting to each other. Communicate with me and HELP me. That is what you are there for! Shocking, shocking, shocking service, and I use `service' loosley. I left there feeling frustrated and disrespected. Is that how you want your customers to feel, MTN?
