Taking additional money from my account

I wished to end my MTN contract at its termination (May 2017). I made the necessary phone call and got verbal confirmation that my contract would be cancelled. My contract was cancelled, however MTN then proceeded to take an extra installment of R539 directly from my account. This installment was over and above what I had already paid. I got in contact via email with MTN Customer Service and sealed with Palesa Phoku. All Palesa could tell me was that my contract was cancelled as requested by me and now it was in order. That is not what I queried. I queried the additional payment that went off my account.

And in fact MTN tool more money than was required as my account balance now sits at -R33.56. I don't reckon I will be getting that back will I? In addition, MTN have effectively closed my online account so I can't view my old statements.

I am so glad my contract with MTN is finished. The thought of never dealing with them again makes me smile. But for now I have to try get the mo.ey they took from me.

MTN has pathetic customer service, do not open ama account with them.

Thanks for your response Mike. However, if that is the case, which I can't verify as I can't access my Account Statements. Why is the balance at -R33.56?
