Take my money!!!
Apparently you need to notify MTN after 24 months if you do not want to continue with your contract. I do not use my MTN number anymore and left it in my tablet for a couple of months (not even switching on my tablet) to let my 24 month contract run out. When going through my accountt statements yesterday I saw that I am still being billed R620pm, and we are in month 26 now!!! Phoned MTN and they explained that I need to notify them if I want to cancel otherwise it will be going on a month to month basis. No salesman ever notified me about that, but I can believe that they will put it in their small print to take as much money from customers as posible.
Trying to cancel the contract is also not so straight forward. The contract was taken out by my dad for me when I was still at school (20 years ago). In the meantime the customer pin was set up by myself through MTN a number of years back and bank details changed to my own account. They can take money from my account for years (apparently not the contract holder) and I can change email adresses etc for correspondence, but I cannot cancel my own contract!!!
MTN only play by rules when it suits them!!!
