Sudden R2000 bill for a R150 TOPUP Contract!!

To whom it may concern

After approximately 6 years of no complaints and a happy customer, this month I got billed for over R2000 for a 2GB TOPUP contract of R150/month as initially asked for when applying 6 years ago. Since 2009, I have paid the R150/month. The TOPUP contract was selected, in order to prevent a bill like the above amount (R2000), hence, it is highly unlikely to receive such an amount out of the blue!

Why would I select a 2GB TOPUP contract if they don't cap me on the 2GB as asked for? If I wanted an unapped contract I would have requested a different contract. Before the R2000 bill, I received my monthly 2GB data, and when it was depleted, I did not have any internet access! How is it possible that this can change???

To my surprise I received a R2000 bill as my data didn't stop after 2GB. How convenient as it is in the festive season!

After today I will never recommend MTN as a service provider. After 6 years with a bill of only R150, they never once seen it as strange to send a bill of R2000.

Regards,
Unsatisfied customer
