Sudden poor network coverage
For nearly 20 years, we have been very happy MTN clients, having access to a stable and reliable cellphone network where we live. Over the last four or five weeks however, there have been significant problems with the cellphone signal. One can literally watch on your cellphone how the signal builds and then drops away to nothing. In fact, very often there is absolutely no access to the network. Those calls which do actually come through are abruptly cut-off after two or three minutes, or you can still hear the person you're talking to, but they cannot hear you. The data connection off the same network is also patchy, often offering a 'DNS server error'. These problems are not only an inconvenience, they are also a significant security risk. The MTN network in the area has always been extremely good, so it's a mystery why this should happen now. Repeated attempts at reporting the problem to the tower service provider have yielded not results. The devices work perfectly when connected to towers in other areas, so the problem does not lie with them. General troubleshooting, such as restarting and connecting manually do not work.
