Subscription Charges With No Opt In- *******

I checked my invoices and came across a total amount of R1 350.87 for MT Billing Subs, I had no idea what this was and investigated further, I found that this has happened to many people via hellopeter, and since unsubscribed to”hotxl”, I have never given my permission for MTN or any 3rd party to debit my account for any such subscription! How does this form part of the CPU in that MTN should be protecting its consumers?

I have been a client with MTN for over 10 years and am just fed up with the poor service or lack thereof. I understand that a 3rd party supplier has charged me with these amounts, but MTN has still charged me. I never OPTED IN for this, as my SERVICE provider you should be protecting me against such 3rd parties or least informing me that such transactions are taking place, surely you can tell if a ****ographic 3rd party is taking R30 every day, sometimes twice a day (as I was so kindly advised by an MTN rep) that there is ********** activity happening. I was told MTN can’t do anything but it’s a case of wont do anything, you have allowed a 3rd party to ***** money from me. I will not be renewing my contract with MTN after 10 years... another one bites the dust.

I will be contacting
Consumer Prtection Act
ICASA
CCC
HelloPeter
Facebook

And genraally advising anyone thinking of using MTN as a service provider not to.

Good Day LaurenDorn,

Thank you for your post.

We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.

Kindly note that content service is not part of MTN services. Content Charge is a commercial SMS/E-mail/Pop-up by a company with the intention of selling you a product or service. Once you subscribe or reply to any of these you get charged for the information you receive from them. This could be anything from video clips, news & weather updates, Lotto numbers, jokes & MP3's being downloaded. The registration of these services is completely voluntary and is activated on the handset. Therefore, the billing solely gets traced back to the MTN number.

You may contact the content provider Mira Networks on *** or send an email to *** to assist you with any credits due to you.

Kindly press *141*5# to view, activate or cancel any WASP subscription.

We would like to assure you that we are actively working to improve our service levels.

Kind Regards,

Zukiswa
