Subject: Unacceptable Service and Credit Profile Issue
Subject: Unacceptable Service and Credit Profile Issue MTN South Africa has been the worst experience I have ever had with a service provider, and I strongly advise all South Africans to think twice before taking a contract with MTN. When my company went through a difficult financial period, I struggled to keep up with payments. Realizing my situation was worsening, I requested MTN to cancel my contract and allow me to make arrangements for the arrears. The response? A flat refusal. I was told the contract could not be canceled until arrears were paid. I even begged MTN to hand me over to attorneys so I could settle the debt properly. Instead, MTN refused to stop the contract but continued charging me for six months for a service I could not use because my phones were blocked. Then, at their convenience, they decided to hand me over. How does this make sense? How can MTN decide when to hand a client over while continuing to charge for a service that is not being used? After reconciling my debts, I contacted MTN repeatedly—emails, phone calls—just to request a reduction on the amounts charged during the period I was disconnected. MTN ignored every request. I eventually paid the full amount to restore my credit profile. To my shock, when I checked my credit profile, MTN reported the account as Written Off instead of Settled. I have called countless times, been transferred from one department to another, and NO ONE at MTN can assist in correcting this error. This is unacceptable, *********, and damaging to my credit reputation. I demand:
Immediate correction of my credit profile to reflect Settled in Full. Written confirmation of this correction within 7 business days.
If MTN fails to resolve this, I will escalate to every available consumer protection platform and regulatory authority. Enough is enough.
