Struggling to cancel my month to month contract

I Took out a home internet month to month package. I tried calling in to cancel just to be told that I need to take the router to the nearest MTN store. I explained to them I took out this month to month contract for my mom who lives in Cape Town and I live in Gauteng. So I asked how will my mom be able to cancel the contract if I am the account holder? I was transferred here there and everywhere with no luck or an answer. I actually wonder if some of your 'Service Champions' understand English. The more I try to explain my scenario the more she tells me to go to the store. Can someone please point me in the right direction
