Still no response
I posted this last week. No response from MTN. It get's worse and worse. MTN didn't give me the much-hyped FREE nanosim I've had a contract with MTN since 1995. On 2 April I got an upgrade to a Samsung S6 Edge at the Morningside walk in centre. The representative whose name was George did not mention that this handset needed a nanosim nor did he offer me the free nanosim that I understand goes with an upgrade of this nature. I tried to set the phone up on 1 May only to discover I didn’t have the required nanosim. Since then I have called in to 808 – no joy except to be told I can go and PURCHASE one at my nearest MTN store. I got a number for the Morningside branch and it took about 10 tries before that phone was answered. On 3 May I spoke with a lady called Sia who promised to email George to instruct him to call me. I am not willing to drive from Parkhurst to Morningside to fetch a sim I should have been given on the day I was given my upgrade. I have heard nothing from Sia or from George since. I have had no response to my post on MTN’s facebook page or to a Facebook message sent to them last week. I phoned again today and when I eventually had the phone answered after about 6 tries, by a lady called Phindile, she told me George is out to lunch. I asked to speak to his supervisor, was told it is Gavin Goncales (or similar) and that she cannot take the phone to him. All she could do is email him my message. She asked what it was about and I was not prepared to waste my time telling her. She insisted so I hung up. What DISGUSTING lack of service. I would like to start using my new phone this century. In addition this upgrade is the 10th contract I have signed with MTN. I am a loyal customer and NOTHING was offered to me in order to acknowledge this. The last time I renewed my contract I received a substantial discount off my account as an incentive – I think it was over R3,000. This time absolutely nothing. Since it is so easy to port now, I am seriously considering moving my account.
