*****ing from a 92 year old pensioner who cancelled his month to month agreement.
My mother had a cell phone with MTN, but on a month to month basis. She passed away from Covid on 7 December. On the day of her funeral (15 December) the phone was ****** from an open window of their home. We called MTN on the same day to cancel the month to month as my father who is 92 years and is totally deaf and almost blind. We were told that we have to call from an MTN number, which we don't have. We are Telkom and were told to take my father into an MTN store, which we did. This was the 28th December. The cancellation summary was given and the reference number for service deactivation was ***. On 4 March we went into MTN again (counter 3) as the debit order was still going through. On the system it showed it was blocked not cancelled due to retention and incompetence from a thieving company who preys on the old people. He has a pension of R1800.00 per month. Today Norma on *** called and asked if I wanted to continue month to month and once we informed her that we are not interested in month to month as my mother has passed away and my father is deaf. She then said we had to call 083 108. We informed her we don't have MTN number, she said we have to have an MTN number. She then gave a *** number which we called and listen to everything about Unisa and buying of data and after two minutes we were told we had to call 135 or call from another cellphone provider. This is theft and we demand that he receives all the money *******ly taken from his account after cancelling the month in December last year. Being month to month it MUST be easy to cancel something so easy. A company that ******* on pensioners is pathetic.
