SMS - Content Charges - BE AWARE - Service Provider MTN

I have recently upgrade my contract with MTN - 2 x months ago to be precise. In the last 2 x months my account was higher than normal with +- R400. I went to the MTN Shop in Cresta to request statement to see where the problem was. I was then told that the extra amount was for "Content Charges" as this was not fami**** to myself I asked them to explain "Content Charges" - apparently it is where you recieve sms's and if you open it, it automatically register you with their services.... I was alway under the impression that you had to subscribe in order to be charged - apparently not with certain sms's. There was 2 x sms' that they mentioned and that is what made up the extra charges to be +- R400 more on my account - the lady was nice and unsubscribed me for something that I did not even wanted or knew about and defenitely did not subscribed to it. I have send MTN Customer Care a mail on Monday (5 December 2016) to ask them to please explain to me how this is even possible - this has NEVER happened to me before in all the time that I had my contract with Altech Autopage.... also I have requested them to explain how the manage their security on their network in order for these kind of sms's not to even reach us? I am sorry to say but this is ***** in my eyes and where is the Cusomer Act/Credit Act to protect us from these kind of activities. I have also requested them to refund me the 2 x months for these "Content Charges" as I feel my service provider need to supply me with a safe service/network.

I have send another update yesterday (6 December 2016) as I have had no response from MTN Customer Care with regards to my request/query.

I feel it is my duty to make people aware of this as this can cost you allot of money that you did not even know existed or subscribed to.

No SMS’s was send from me and my hand set to activate any of these services – I have been a mobile user for more than 10 years and know telephony (also been in the telecommunications industry for very long time). This services was automatically activated via your network thus I will keep MTN responsible for the charges and insist on a refund on my account that was billed via MTN to me.

AGAIN I will post this communication as I do not accept your excuse why this occurred.
