simple sim swap impossible
I lost my number due to unforseen circumstances, I tried to get a sim swap by calling mtn but there was no response, I went to mtn stores still they could not assist me. Finally I manage to get mtn call center , explained I need to do a swip swap, gave them the info as much as I could remember but the lady just said, some of the info you gave me are wrong and hanged up on me, I mean the number is mine and I could confirm what I could remember, there is reason for phonebook its that I don't have to memorise the numbers off by heart.so excuse me if I don't remember all the numbers in my phone book<br> Does this then mean I have lost my number for good over one or two numbers . Really mtn ? Really

I am so sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience wrt your SIM Swap. There are however set rules and regulations in place with our 173 call centre that specifically handles the pre-paid SIM swaps, and of course as a security measure they need to ask you a series of questions.
In your, and many other client's cases, you could not recall e.g. the last three dialled tel no's. But do not despair, here is what you can do:
1. Go to your nearest police station, and fill in an affidavit form explaining why you need to do a SIM swap (e.g. - your phone was lost / ****** etc.) and that you need to keep your original tel no
2. The police will stamp the letter and hand it back to you.
3. Also let them certify a copy of your ID at the same time.
4. You then purchase a new Pre-paid SIM Starter pack, (which will give you a new SIM card number)
5. Scan and e-mail the affidavit, certified ID copy & new SIM card no to: ***.
You will then be contacted to set your new SIM up to your old tel no.
