Sign up to a Month to Month home LTE with MTN at your own peril!

I signed up in early April. While signing up, I was told by the MTN employee that I needed to pay one month in advance, which would supposedly be my 30 day cancellation notice period, paid in advance. I tried cancelling less than two months later. I called the MTN support number multiple times and had to visit two MTN stores. The staff are extremely unhelpful. I eventually managed to hand in the free-to-use router and sim, as well as sign the cancellation documents. I was then provided with a reference number. To my annoyance, I was informed that the upfront payment had nothing to do with a notice period, but was rather a signup fee. One of the numerous lies I have been fed by MTN staff over the past few months.

Two months later and they are still attempting to bill me. I had to reverse and cancel their debit order. I am now receiving emails and smses from MTN saying that I am overdue and it will affect my credit score negatively.

I have called their support line, where I am abruptly told that they cannot help me and that I must go back to the store. The store says that they have done their part and I must call the support line. I've emailed the MTN support email address, after which I was asked for details, once I provided details I did not receive anymore responses.

The MTN brand has been dragged through a heap of fresh fecal matter as far as I'm concerned and I will never do business with them again.
