Shocking Treatment

I ahve been an MTN customer for roughly 24 years, most of which has been in a VIP status. On Thursday 21st Dec I app**** for an additional data card at a monthly cost of R299. Application was made at the MTN store in Rosebank Mall. I was subsequently advised that my application had been declined "for credit reasons". This despite the fact that I have spent a fortune with MTN over more than 2 decades, including certain very sizeable bills whilst travelling abroad in the past. I have never had any issue with payment and have NEVER failed to pay my account timeously. Additionally I have been a very senior executive and director of listed companies and am currently CFO of a listed entity, earning a very sizeable salary. My current average spend on my mobie account alone is in excess of R2100 per month, and yet I was told that I am not credit worthy for a data card of R299 per month! After repeated processes, I was eventaull advised on Wed 27th Dec that my proof of residence was reuired, this almost a week afte rmy application was processed! I was eventaully told (after providing the proof of residence on Wed 27th Dec) that my application was still subject to credit approval!!! Ths finallly came through late afternoon on the 27th Dec, with an associated comment from MTN that they are concerned that I would "overextend" myself! For R299 per month! The whole saga has been nothing short of shocking, unprofessional and simply devoid of commercial reality or any recognition for my status both as a very longstanding and loyal customer of MTN's, nor for my status as the CFO of a company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. MTN does not deserve my or anyone's else's business or custom.

Reviewer Update
I note that MTN has regrettably failed to respond to my review above and haven’t even had the courtesy or deceny to acknowledge same. Another example of the depths to which MTN’s service levels have fallen!!
