SHOCKING SERVICE, LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY

After being an MTN contract holder for many years, my husbands phone was lost on Sunday 4 January 2015. On Monday 5 Jan i called MTN claims department to log a claim. After much back and forth with MTN claims, I was advised to migrate the contract to prepaid so that i could do a SIM swop so the number could be active again. I eventually got confirmation that my form was received and would be processed. I then cancelled my contract.
3 months later with several phone calls weekly And constantly being told the claim was still in process, i spoke to a consultant who told me the claim would not be paid out on a technicality, since we migrated the contract to prepaid before the contract was cancelled. After asking to speak to a manager, i was transferred to Adrian Stellenberg, who also would not help me with any answers, saying that he could only escalate the query. He was extremely unpleasant to deal with and made it clear he had no intention of helping us.
After my husband got angry with him, he hung up the phone (on a customer query!! - This is supposed to be a manager equipped to deal with people!!).
HOW DO I EVER GET THIS CLAIM RESOLVED??? WHY HAVE WE PAID INSURANCE TO MTN FOR 10 YR
