Shocking service from MTN

I am absolutely frustrated with the service I have received from the call centre and the MTN store in Carnival mall, Brakpan.

I kept getting content service messages, my airtime was disappearing without my consent. I have never signed up to any content services and although you cancel subscription, a couple minutes later I get another, it's was so bad that I had to stop loading airtime. MTN store tell me it can't happen automatically. Anyway, I thought a number swop would help the situation, but no, problem just got WORSE.

I paid R250 on Monday the 9th of April. Tuesday I received an sms saying it was being processed and will take 2 to 24 hours. My number was removed from the MTN network my new number is still not active today 18th of April.

Thursday 12 April I was told that the number swop failed because I am on a top up 200 contract and they can't activate my new phone number on that package. Friday 13th April I signed forms to migrate to a made for me M package so that MTN can activate the new number. Monday 16th of April, there is still a problem, they can't migrate me to a new package as the number is not active. Today Wednesday 18th of April, still no active phone and am yet to have any feedback.

This is a huge inconvenience. Call centre says the store needs to sort it out? Store says call centre needs to sort it out and they still awaiting a response to the query.

I have gone an entire week and a half and still counting, without a phone, but you MTN, will definitely be taking all your money at the end of the month although I've been a week and a half without my phone, I pay for a service I am not receiving.

Every time I get told 2 to 24 hours, which is what I was told again today!

Thank you for your post.

We sincere apologized for any inconvenience incurred.

The package migration was done 18-4-2018.

The sim card did not work for 9 days. We have allocated R100.00 airtime to your sim card for the inconvenienced caused.

We do pick up that the number swap was done from cell *** to *** on the 10-4-2018. This number is active on the network due to the usage reflecting on the sim card.

MTN cannot control content usage on the sim card.

Kindly be advised that any services used on the sim card will be charged to the account, content services is not a MTN service and from our side we cannot activate this, content service can only be activated by the user of the handset.

MTN do not credit the account for any content charges. Please note we cannot assist you with the break down for the content charges because this is not a MTN service and we do not work on outside company systems.

You may use the following USSD code to block the content service providers: *141* 5 # select option written content billing.

So explain this then? MTN enters into contractual relationship with WASP’s (Wireless Application Service Providers), and acts as an “enabler” to the WASP’s by making the network platform available and providing a payment gateway. In addition MTN requires that such WASP’s be members of WASPA in an effort to bring about a self-regulatory measure. MTN does not have relationships with the content providers, they however have direct relationships with the WASP who aggregates such content on their behalf.
