Shocking service and repeated lies for 6 months

I've been dealing with the MTN Greenstone store for 5 months trying to get a watch that I understood was part of the package when I upgraded. This was clearly stated on the MTN Yellow trader for April 2019

We upgraded to a Mate 20 Pro with a watch on 14 April 2019

We're still waiting for the watch.

In April, we sat with Mehmood and upgraded some of our contracts.

1 of these in particular, I was going to upgrade to the Huawei P30.

My husband convinced me to get the Mate 20 Pro as it came with a smart watch.

Mehmood explained to us that the watches are not kept at MTN but will be sent from Huawei, and they will contact me to arrange delivery.

After 4 weeks we followed up with Mehmood and we were told that it too up to 6 weeks so we must just be patient.

At six weeks we were advised to give it 2 weeks extra.

During this time we spoke to the Huawei lady in store who assured us our names were on the list for watches.

After 8 weeks we started chasing, and we were given the contact details of Werner from Huawei. He gave us a completely different story.

Werner says that we were supposed to go register on the website to qualify for the watch. Nobody told us this, and the yellow trader showed that the contract was for a phone and a watch. It never said you get a watch if you register.

The MTN Yellow trader for April that I found on the net says you get the mate 20 Pro with a free watch valued at R5499.

There is no mention of registering, or the 1st so many etc etc.

I have followed the store's advice for months now following up with Huawei.

It is now 5 months down the line, Chantel and Werner are ignoring our calls, and yet MTN is happily taking money for no less than 6 contracts every single month.

I went and reviewed my contract, and Mehmood never captured the phone and watch on the contract, only the phone.

I find this very upsetting.

I have been a loyal MTN customer for many years, however, if this is not rectified soon, I will seriously consider moving all my contracts to another service provider as they start being available.

I believe I have been very patient with this, but I have now reached the limits of my patience. Somebody needs to step forward, take responsibility for the commitments made and provide me with the watch I believed I was getting when I signed the contract, especially considering that I chose a different device specifically to get the watch.

MTN Blames Huawei who blames MTN...

Who is making money off of me monthly?

Who should take responsibilty?

How hard can it be to rectify a mistake?

Hi Ishie

If you had taken the time to read my complaint, you'd know that that answer doesn't fly.

You yellow trader stated that we get a phone and watch.

Huawei made no commitment to me it was MTN.

Since we are spending over R4600 per month with MTN, surely MTN can take some sort of responsibility here?

I had a similar challenge with Vodacom in 2015 with regards to a Sony Smar****ch 3. There was no stock in the country.

Vodacom paid for an LG smar****ch for me as a good will gesture, this after I was waiting for a mere 2 months.

Am seriously considering taking the yellow trader I have to the advertising board and laying charges against MTN for false advertising...

I have also just decided that we will explore canceling or moving all our contracts as and when they come available.

For your information, this spans over 10 numbers, of which 2 are sky contracts. And 2 numbers have been with MTN for about 20 years. I'm saddened by this not meaning anything to you.

Your complete and utter disregard for a legitimate complaint from a loyal customer is evidence of shockingly poor service from an entity that has forgotten how they became an institution in the first place.

Just a note, as MTN rep**** privately, I'd like to share what their response is...

Good day Lyle B,
Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns and affording us the opportunity to address the same. Kindly accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Please note that the watch offer is an offer from Huawei. Kindly note that you need to contact Huawei directly for assistance.
Kind regards,

Ishie.

Once again just blaming Huawei, even though the yellow trader was printed by MTN and the deal was done by them.
