SHOCKING SERVICE

My Acc No. K*** - Tel: ***

I am livid with the service from MTN. Let me briefly summarize. I was disconnected from service last week. 1. I contacted the call center and the person at the other end said there might be a "weather" problem and she will reset my account and I should try after 5 minutes. Nothing happened.

2. I called again a little later, and this time the person at the other end said the reason was because my debit order was rejected. I asked that the details be recaptured as this card was recently renewed in September. She said MTN do not do this over the phone any longer and I should go into an MTN Store.

3. This was a great inconvenience. I went to the MTN store at Davenport. The gentleman there tried to recapture my credit card and then told me that MTN does not accept American Express any longer. I have been using this card with MTN for over 10 years and suddenly they decide that they won't accept debit orders on an American Express card, without even informing their customer. they just unilaterally disconnect you without advising you. That is dishonorable.

I produced another Visa Credit card for him to recapture. On his screen, he indicated that there was a balance outstanding of R4487-00. He asked that I pay the arrears amount. To get up and running again, I just said go ahead. My account reflects a debit was made 3/8/20 for R1488-00 and R 1488-00 on 2/9/20 . 2/10 and 2/11 was rejected. Where do they get R4487-00. They debited my account for an additional R1488-00. I contacted them and they said it was a computer "glitch". I requested a refund and they said they will credit my account for the next installment. This is theft.

It should be common courtesy that their customer be notified if his account is in arrears and a debit order is rejected. You do not unilaterally disconnect a long standing customer of 20 years. I use this phone for business and this had an adverse effect on my business. Why was I not notified that American Express is not accepted any longer. What's to become of the additional amount they charged me...*******ly I might add. They also charged me reversal of debit order costs.

I contacted MTN multiple times thereafter for a resolution. They became defensive and selective in their response. They lack the training to handle customer queries. This is shocking from MTN. My contract comes up for renewal soon and MTN can say goodbye to a long standing customer. I suggest others with same issues do the same. They don't seem to care about their customers.
