Service Suspended - Paying for nothing

After my debit order came off at the end of the month as per normal for the month of May, I got a sms saying that my service has been disabled - I knew so many people having an issue with MTN that I thought it might of been a mistake - to my surprise, I did receive an sms on the 5th of May advising that my service will be reactivated. It was active for the next week and then it was suspended again! (12 May) I am on a top up contract - I pay one amount for a certain amount of data, smses and minutes - If i finish that - I have to recharge with airtime etc. They suspended my service because I had exceeded my credit limit - WHEN AND HOW???? Firstly, this should be explained thoroughly to the client instead of smsing and just suspending as this was never discussed when signing this contract and secondly I am still paying for what?? A phone with no service? To this date, my service hasn't been enabled yet my debit order has come off already for the month of June. Hopefully this will be sorted out very soon else I will be forced like many other customers to change service providers. P.S Call Center is no help

Hello the_chantel,

Thank you for your post.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience experienced.

The credit limit that has been put in place is as per the request from the NCA (National Credit Act). This is not a service that MTN provides to you. It services as a risk measure in the customers favour as per the NCA.

To have your credit limit increased and your line reinstated kindly contact MTN customer service on 808/***. Do be advised that increasing your credit limit will eliminate the re-occurrence of your line being suspended.

Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.

Regards
Yahya
