Service Suspended due to Credit Limit out of the blue - on PREPAID

Good day,
I have a cellphone contract with MTN, which my mother is using.
Yesterday my mother received an SMS : "Yello, this is a reminder that you hav exceeded your Credit Limit of R536.00 Your services have now been suspended for outgoing calls. Kind Regards, MTNSA"
Please note that this contract is paid IN FULL every single month on the 25th through an EFT.
This account is PAY AS YOU GO only. i.e. if my mother wants to make a call and her minutes are up, she must buy more airtime. There is NO contract on the data, smses or airtime that would account for this message. Everything is PAY AS YOU GO.

When I called (I had to call because you cannot call the help line when the phone cannot make outgoing calls) they couldn't tell me what this message meant. Something about the Credit Bureau checking if I can have he account and that they just needed to have the credit Bureau recheck if I could (HUH???)
Nothing has changed. I've had this number for about 10 years! I've always been on a contract (only recently directly through MTN, previously Altech Auto). There wasn't a recent contract upgrade to account for anything credit related being checked and it is, I repeat, PAY AS YOU GO.

Livid! Very unhappy with MTN.
Please address this as a matter of urgency. If my mother finds herself in an emergency, she would be stranded due to MTN blocking outgoing calls.
Regards,
Marilee

"Note this line is on contract and the usage limit is set to change to Top Up once the minutes has been used up."

yes, this was exactly why we were upset by the suspension and didn't believe the consultant's nonsense story about Credit Bureau checks. We do not use this functionality on this number. (PAY AS YOU GO only)

Thank you for the prompt feedback though.
