Service cost dispute & replacement of handset

I upgraded my contract on 18/2/2014 at MTN UTH. With the upgrade I was sold insurance with 24HR Mobility, at no point when the insurance was sold to me was I informed that the repair center does not work with 24HR Mobility for repairs.

During 2014 I visited the UTH Branch as the device started switching off by itself. The phone was refurbished, I was then informed that I can in future go straight to the center in Newton Park. During 2015 I visited the repair center 3 x times already with the exact same issues on the device. Last Job card ***

On 4/9/2015 I was informed that the device is beyond economical repair and that I am liable for R330 for the services rendered. The phone is still under warranty and I have been sold insurance that is no longer in partnership with your company.
o This device has been a faulty/inferior device from the start
o I had a discussion with the manager Mr. Mabuza at MTN Repair Centre PE and I explained to him that I fail to understand why I must pay the R330 as I have received swopped/refurbished these phones are roaming around the country moving from one customer to the other. No response from MTN yet.
Hello Maro Swanepoel,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

We apologise for any inconveniences caused as a result of this. We understand the frustration you have faced in your attempt to obtain results and answers.

HVRC (Repair centre) is guided by the handset Manufacturers Repairs guidelines and in accordance with their Standards and mandate.

All our handsets go through full Quality assurance tests before being issued out to clients. For as long as your handset complies with all warranty guidelines, our HVRC department will be happy to assist with all the repair issues you might be having or replace it depending on the nature of repair/fault.

There is a quote rejection fee of R330.00 including vat applicable when the repair quotation is rejected by client or the quote has expired or the phone is beyond economic repairs (BER). This is a standard business rule.

Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.

Regards,
Ayanda
