Sent data to a number that is no longer working, and MTN cannot even transfer from their side?!

Hi, I just made a mistake by spending R150 on data and sent it to a wrong number (which belongs to my aunt but is no longer in use) instead of sending it to her new number. I contacted the customer service centre of mtn to ask them to assist. since I know for a fact that the data cannot and will not be used by the number I sent it to. I'm sure there should be a way for them to transfer that data to another number from their side. The only response is.. unfortunately we cannot assist you with this matter. Am I just supposed to accept that there is absolutely no way that the matter can be fix. In this day and age. with the excellent technical people they employ have they not made a back up plan for something like this? I am sure I'm not the only person who this has happened to. I have only been using the MTN network for as long as I can remember.... How loyal am I compared to their loyalty. If R150 doesn't seem like much to lose for them. It sure is a lot for me to lose. I am utterly dissapointed in them and am hoping that someone can contact me to resolve this matter.

Thank you for your post.

As per our telephonic conversation I confirmed that I have debited 1GB of Data from the incorrect number. I also advised that I have credited the 1GB of Data onto the number you provided.

We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this.  Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.
