I had a contract with MTN which expired on the 28th of July, prior to it expiring I went to one of their stores in Cradlestone to advise them that I was canceling the contract but the guy at the store told me to call on the 28th and cancel. I didn't call on 28th and they credited my account with the same amount of data, however they decided to debit more than what I was paying. I called them on a Saturday because the debit order went through on a Friday and the lady who assisted me said "someone upgraded me" and I asked how possible is that without even talking to me first then she said I should call Mondo on Monday and she gave me the number to call. In the mean time I reversed the money and paid back the amount we initially agreed upon when I took out the contract. Monday I called MTN twice and their system was down. I called again on Tuesday and the lady I spoke to named Lerato said I need to speak to someone in their retentions department because she can't cancel the contract due to the outstanding balance on my account. The outstanding balance of R130 is due to the fact that I reversed the amount they debited and paid back what was due to them. I was kept on hold for 30 minutes, the lady I spoke to couldn't cancel it either and she put me on hold which took me back to the beginning where I needed to make a selection and I ended the call. I called again the following day and the same thing happened when they referred me to their retentions department, I was kept on hold for so long they ended up ending the call on their side. I even took a screen shot of the time I was on hold. I didn't call again and I don't know what's going to happen because they don't want to cancel the contract.
