Rude female consultant
Hello Peter
I recently bought a hauwei phone with a smart watch at MTN Springs mall. I was being serviced by a guy named Thabo. Oh, by the way... That's a very good consultant you got there. excellent sales man, very humbled guy. Unfortunately, the smart watches that were in stock on the day were pink. I did raise my concerns as Im a male customer and wearing a pink watch is not what I want. I'm sure that's understandable. I offered to sign the contract and collect a black watch instead at a later stag. Thabo politely asked me to take the watch... He made me understand that it would be a great inconvenience if I don't take the product with me. As part of his negotiation, he assured me that he can make an arrangement to change the wrist band for me(from pink to black.) He asked me to return the following day and I agreed. It was an arrangement made between me and him.
Today was the agreed following day. I went into the store looking for Thabo. A lady consult recognized my face. But all she did was make me sit and wait. She did not enquire why was I here today. But she asked all the other customers "how can I assist?" I she walked around ignoring me after making me sit there for more than 30 minutes. At first, I felt this was unnecessary as I am only here for a short matter. But, I did not mind at all cause I was not in a hurry. I could understand that Thabo (the person I came to) was still busy with another customer. However, I have a problem with how the same lady who asked me to sit there for 30 minutes spoke to me. While she was ignoring me, I eventually greeted her and asked if the IT was around. I was polite and sincere when make these enquiries. Her responding to my questions was rude. She showed absolutely no regard in ever assisting me. She further spoke to me as though I was an idiot for coming into today. Her argument was that I would receive a call when the replacement bands were here. While it may be a valid argument, I believe she could have addressed me in a more appropriate manner. I find it very offensive when someone talks to me like I am stupid.
MTN, please don't dismiss the consultant though. Perhaps she is having a bad day cause it's black Friday season. She probably needed a punching bag to take out her frustrations and saw me as an easy target. I feel sorry for her but I'm still very offended by what she did. Rather assist her by training her further and teach her to talk to customers more appropriately. Like Thabo, maybe you can ask Thabo to give her tips on how to address customers even when she is under pressure
Furthermore, I still insist we exchange my wristband because I am not going to go around wearing pink. The watch is still in its package and I haven't worn it as yet so the band is still good as new
