Rude call centre agents

I went into MTN in the Newtown Junction Mall where I was left standing and the consultant didn't even bother to greet. I left the store with no help and wanted to know if I could purchase a handset for my helper. I came back to the office to cancel a debit that I know is going off my account and I have done no upgrades from the very first time I opened the contract with MTN. The call centre agent Phumzile (ref number ********** 27) took my details confirmed my information and did the checks with me and then transferred me to Tebogo in cancellations (ref ********** 41) without giving him any details. He then does another verification of my information which is very irritating. I then have to explain the story to him again and by now I am getting annoyed with MTN. He then puts my on hold for what I feel was a rather long time and comes back saying the contract has been cancelled also not listening to the fact that I asked him why I was placed on hold. I ask the question again and he rudely explains to cancel the contract. When I asked for the ref number he then places me on hold again. Of which Phumzile didn't have to. I received the ref number rather quickly with her. I know how call agents operate in a call centre and I know the agents think its rather clever to place the clients on hold when they feel like they don't want to deal with them. I don't not appreciate the lack of interest such a BIG corporate has in their clients. I took the contract out when I first started working and it expired at least 10 years ago however the debit order had still been running. I was hoping to get my helper a new phone on that contract but no interest in me I have no interest in you. Please confirm that the "contract" has been cancelled. I do not want to spend my money at MTN any longer.

Thank you for your post.

We sincere apologized for any inconvenience incurred.

Apology for the agent not greet you when in store.

No upgrade was done to the account. Retentions department have to do the security questions to make sure you are the account holder, even when you in store. Customer will be placed on hold to prevent the noise in the back round and other agents online with clients . Apology if the agent did not informed you with this information.

Client need to give cancellation request 30 days before the contract expires ,if no cancellation request is received the contract will move to a month to month contract and debit order will be requested.

The contract is cancelled and number converted to prepaid.

Balance is R 110.46. This will be the last debit order from your bank account.

Kind Regards,
