****** by MTN :-(
I've been a satisfied loyal MTN customer all my life but now they made themselves my worst enemy. I was due for my LTE modem to upgrade in August 2021 and I decided to do an online renewal as this option is more convenient. I proceeded with the upgrade to a Home LTE package but no info was given that I can only use certain routers on this package, the next day Boom no Internet, contact MTN customer care and they informed me that when I do an online renewal the contract moves to a 3rd party company Mondo so I must contact them to find out what's going on. This made me furious because they basically threw me away for the Lions without any notice :-( . After a long struggle, I finally got hold of Mondo and they informed me that I need to buy a certain router to operate on the home packages and because I had a brand new LTE router I am not going to pay another R2000 for a router. I request a cancellation on the contract and went to my closest MTN store and opened a new LTE contract in my companies name. All good? NO, not at all!! the following month September I got billed for the canceled contract, so I thought maybe it's just the cancelation fees let's let this one slide. October same story, so I called Mondo again and they told me that the contract was never canceled. Again furious I asked them to cancel it and they told me I must go to an MTN store to cancel the contract as they can't help me with that. I mean come on!!! I went to my closest MTN store and all of a sudden they were able to cancel the contract which they told me the previous time I must call Mondo to cancel it. Ok, so all good now? Nope, November came and still I got billed for this damn canceled contract. Contacted MTN customer care Again and the operator just repeated what I get billed for and the more I tried to explain to her mtn is *****ing my money the more she played stupid. The next few times I called their systems were offline. I went to the MTN store and they said the reason for the bill is because I am getting billed for the one month after cancelation. Ok that's fine even after I got ****** for 3 months I left it there, at least they are off my back now. December came and big surprise, they deducted the amount for the canceled contract again. I decided to call my bank reverse the debit order and pay only the amount that shows on my bill. (FYI so the amount on my bill showed the contract was removed and it's only my phone contract I am paying for but the debit order still included the canceled contract)
3 days later I received an SMS from MTN your contract has been suspended due to unpaid bills please visit an MTN store to pay your outstanding bill. I went to the store and told them I am not paying for this thing that I never used once for another month and I am not leaving the store before this issue gets resolved. The guy lodge a complaint to MTN telling them the story and ask them for a refund for the months I paid for nothing, and he assisted in un-suspend my phone. 2 days later I received a message from MTN your case has been closed without any explanation or anything. So I thought oke maybe this is sorted now, let's put this behind us and move on. Guess what its January and they deducted the amount for the canceled contract in August again. Seriously MTN, is this how you treat your loyal customers by *****ing them to the ground in these tough financial times?
I seriously don't know what to do anymore, maybe my option is to get a lawyer and take this further as ****************.
