****** by MTN

Let me just preface this by saying I have only ever been with MTN, since my first phone over 15 years ago. I always renew with MTN and I always pay my contract.

In November 2021, I was notified that my account had purchased over R8500 in data. How this happened, I don't know. I don't even know how to purchase data bundles via the self service app. In fact I would never need to purchase data since I upgraded my contract to 2GB a month. Additionally, I have uncapped WIFI at home, so why on earth would I need a bundle of 200GB???

I have battled with MTN since November and throughout this whole year. I have to call EVERY week and wait on the phone to speak to a service champion, who have all been unable to assist me so far. I have taken time off work to visit a police station and get an affidavit so that I may launch a ***** investigation. I have emailed the affidavit and my issue to TWO different MTN consultants and sent follow up emails without any response. Whenever I open a case by calling in, I am issued a reference number and a couple days later i get an SMS saying the case is closed. No calls back explaining, nothing ever changes. Why is this?

In the meantime, MTN does not debit the usual amount from my account and has continuously tried to take R9000 - R10000 at the start of every month. When the debit order bounces (because I don't have that kind of money in my account), then my number is greylisted and I am unable to use my cell phone, which I already pay a fortune for every month. So far I have been unable to use my phone this whole 2022. This has been a problem in its own right (ie. getting lost without GPS). At the end of FEB however, MTN finally managed to take over R10000 out my account. Now I am left unable to pay my rent, healthcare scheme, or even buy food for the month.

All I want is to refund the data that was purchased. I haven't used it (because I cant even use my phone) and when I look online MTN say that data is not refundable. This is simply unacceptable. The way I see it, MTN has literally ****** me.

Given my loyalty to MTN over the years, this feels like an absolute kick in the teeth and caused unrivalled stress in my life. I am hoping this can be resolved soonest.
