****** blind by MTN, worse mobile provider in SA
In August I realised that something on my bill didn't look right. I sent an email query to customer services but got no response. In September I received a bill of about R4000 and R3000. This is A LOT more than my usual R500. I phoned customer services who just lectured me about my data usage and promised to send me a detailed statement the next day as the system was down. I never received the statement. I was also told that Mtn cannot guarantee that my call limit be enforced. The next week I phoned back, and finally received the statement. Apart from the fact the data usage looks completely ridiculous and impossible, my included data also looked wrong. I sent the consultant an email with queries, and never got a response. Two days later I phoned customer services AGAIN. When I asked about my data allowance the consultant said that Mnt used to match data with fee data as a promotion, but for the last few months they have lowered the amount, eg 1gig became 500meg. When I asked when customers were notified, I was told that Mnt was under no obligation and that customers are responsible to check their data daily. When I said that in the past I had enquired in the past about the current spend balance at it is always incorrect and asked why that was, I did not get a response. That is not even to mention that the balance service is often down for days. When asked why my call limit was never enforced, I was referred to credit control. When I asked how and how much it would be for early cancellation, I was referred to credit control. I was also told to send an email as there is not enough credit control staff and the hold could be up to an hour. When I informed him that I could not even get through to customer control via email, I got no response.
This is a contract that I had to take over from my employer and thus jot my primary contract. In the 15 years I've been at Vodacom I have never experienced this kind of disorganisation. Is it not ******* to have a bill just run on without knowing if the customer can even afford it?! Mtn can just be glad their debit order went off when it did, but as a result my bond payment bounced. Mtn has completely ruined my budget and my credit score, has caused me untold amounts of anxiety and in 2 months is charging me the same amount as a plane ticked overseas. I can't WAIT to organise early cancellation so I can be rid of MTN forever. Good riddance to bad *******. Worse service provider in SA.
