Ridiculously been charged for a phone that is still within its 1 year guarentee

I have put my Blackberry Z3 on the charger to charge and when I got back the phone was off and just would not go back on it was just dead, I did not drop this phone nor was it and accident on my side. the thing is also this phone is not even a year old and its now faulty. I took it to Mtn as I got it from MTN and they sent it in to have a look at what the problem is, but now to my suprise MTN wants to charge me R741.71 to fix a phone I did not break and is not even a year old and then if I reject this amount they want to ridiculously charge me R330.00 for rejecting it. this is ridiculous. So basically what MTN is saying is that I should not charge my phone or they will charge me for is going dead on its own. seriously this is ridiculous, and I refuse to pay a cent for a phone that should still be under Guarantee and not a year old and I refuse to pay a ridiculous R330. what is MTN going bankrupt that they need to find ridiculous charges to charge people in order to make money seriously.... This needs to be sorted as I will not pay R741.71 nor R330 for something that is not my fault, then I will never buy another phone from MTN and will not even refer people to MTN. RIDICULOUS....

This an email I sent through today, coz this is becoming reidiculous....
Good day Innocentia
I was at the store on the 07/05/2016 to bring in my phone to have a look at why it wont switch on, the lady Linda Mbalo booked my phone for repairs without asking for the proof of purchase, i then recieved sms stating that the phone has been assessed and quotation is R741.71 and if I reject it i would need to pay R330, if which i feel I should not be charged seeing that when I took this phone in it was not yet a year old and this is a MTN phone not another network provider.
I then went in the store again on the 01/06/2016 to give Innocentia Molema my contract papers of which she advised that I was not supposed to be charged as it is with MTN Direct, but yet I am still recieving sms that I must accept to pay R741.71 or R330 rejection. I have also attached an email from your repair centre who is telling me that I must still pay even when this is not my fault, but the fault of *********** staff of MTN Store in Westgate who does not ask the proper questions and does not advise that I needed a proof of purchase.
I need to know what is happening as this is now going on for 2 months which is unacceptable and ridiculous,.
I need this sorted and I need my phone.
Kind regards
