Retention dpt useless

I have been trying to call the whole day to check my balance and payoff my account off. I went to the branch to get early settlement but they're telling me I need to call the very same retention dpt who are not answer or dropping the calls. Why is so difficult to cancel your contract but when you want a sale you make thousand calls to assist. I want to cancel my contract. This is nonsense
