Repair

A phone was bought last year October and sometimes last month the phone stopped charging and i booked it in

since it was still under MANUFACTURE WARRANTY. The phone was then booked in for repairs and it was sent to HVRC Repairs and I do not know why because the phone was still under Manufacture Warranty. 2 Weeks after it was

sent for repairs i had to make follow ups on the phone and called HVRC Repairs and i was told that the phone has been sent to the Manufacture to assist with the repairs. I again called to to check up on the phone thenthey told me that the phone was BER because of water damage. If the phone was water damaged why was is not picked up by the first technician the worked on the phone and now HVRC repairs wants me to pay an amount of over R300 because my phone was water damage and i don't understand why because they could not find fault on my phone and I would like MTN to explain why was my phone taken to a private repair centre and not the manufacture and how come my phone was water damaged. I advise people be aware that though the device is still under manufacture warranty it is not taken to the manufacture for any warranty repairs.

Good Day Username01,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate that you have made us aware of the issues that you were faced with regarding the handset.

We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences caused. We understand the frustration that you endure in your attempt to have this resolved.

MTN SP After Sales is accredited to assess and perform cellular repairs under strict manufacturer guidelines and as such, specific criteria is app**** when assessing devices to validate warranty. This is done in accordance with procedures laid down by each manufacturer.

The handset does not necessarily have to be splashed, soaked or immersed in liquid to be deemed liquid damaged. Excessive humidity and slight moisture can just be as damaging to the circuit tracks on the board. Traces of liquids being detected on handsets therefore voids Warranty and renders handset BER (Beyond Economical Repairs) due to the complexities and costs to repair.

We regret to advise that should the handset be found to be liquid damaged, it cannot be fixed under warranty. However you are still welcome to request second opinion by having the handset rebooked.

Rest assured it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.

Kind Regards,

Zukiswa
