Rejecting Port

MTN have rejected my new networks requests to port my two prepaid numbers.

I have been trying to get this done since 3/08/2016, my new network has requested the port three times. 3/08/2016 + 5/08/2016 + 8/08/2016.

I was told to call MTN, when I got through to their porting section I was told I needed to get my new network to resend the port request because they need to manually approve the port.

When I called yesterday 8/08/2016 after getting my new network to close the request and reopen I was told they had gone home and need to call in the morning. Still no feedback from MTN. I called this morning 9/08/2016 to be told "Let me check if they are there", I was then told nobody is there and only they can help me.

I do not owe MTN any money as these are two prepaid numbers. I do not understand how something other networks do in a day has taken MTN a week and still can't be done right. My numbers also have not been ported in the last two months.

MTN are *******ly holding my numbers without just cause. I will not stand for this behavior of being bul**** into submission and I will not leave this. We are spammed by MTN at least 5 times a day with junk sms and still have to deal with hassles like this. This is the reason I am moving away from their network. Poor customer service.

Does it mean because I pay to use your network you have the right to spam me with junk I have not asked for?

Vodacom last year gave me not one hassle porting away from their network.

Service like this in 2016 is terrible and we as consumers should not be subjected to this type of bullying.

Hopefully somebody with any power at MTN reads this and does something about it. I will do my best to not promote MTN and make sure people know not to go near your network.

I have wasted so much time and money running backward and forward getting this port request closed, reopened and sent again to MTN. I refuse to give up my numbers because of this delaying tactic.

I will call MTN ever 5 minutes to get this resolved. I want my numbers released by this corporate trying to bully me into submission.

This is the same MTN subjected to a fine in Nigeria for not complying with regulations and deactivating non-RICA'ed Sim cards.

In this instance you have not comp**** with the Telecommunications act regarding the Mobile Number Portability regulations and allowed me to move to another network at my request to do so.

Will you contact me MTN?

Reviewer Update

I have finally managed to get this issue sorted out. MTN gave no reasons for the rejection but needless to say i had to get my new network to send a port request for both my numbers for the 5th time.

I went to the new network store and waited for them to process the request and then called MTN.

I was given the wrong number for the porting department and held on for approximately 30 minutes without an answer. I called their customer service again and was given a different numebr which worked and was answered after one ring. I spoke to a very helpful Shamila who approved the ports manually.

My new network got the approval responses and i was done. I am very happy to be rid of this problem. I will never use MTN again neither will i reccomend them to anyone.

Thank you Shamila at MTN Port Helpdesk. You made a bitter experience turn into one that i am finally happy about.

For those of you being given the incorrect number for MTN porting helpdesk, the correct numebr is **********
