Refusal to repair product under warranty

13/12 - received a faulty Lumia 950XL from MTN Direct
15/12 - signed a new contract and cancel and return old faulty 950XL
30/12 - received double billing from MTN for both new and cancelled contract and logged a ref
04/01 - took 950XL to Montague Garden repair centre about software and hardware issues and there was a crack on top of the screen and phone was not dropped there. Repair centre refused to look at hardware issues and refused to book the phone in unless I repair the screen first even though I insisted that there is no drop where it caused the damage (the phone is less than 14 working days old) and it is a Corning 4 glass (I have an S6 and it is now almost one year old with no issues) . Both consultant and Smone refused to give me contact details but asked me to e-mail until I insisted to get a number *** - Cheryl for a complaint.
Cheryl said repair centre should log and book the phone and there is nothing she can do to assist but to speak to the store first. So again, customer is losing at the end. and sending email to [Email Removed] will result feedback after 1 month and the phone would be more than 14 days old.

Hello chefboyct,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Kindly note that your phone looses warranty when there is physical damage found on it. This however does not mean you cannot book the phone in for repairs, the phone will be assessed and if the damage on the phone was due to negligence on your side then you will need to pay for the repair costs.

Please visit the MTN store you returned the phone to and ask them to process the cancellation request as MTN Direct will need proof from the store that the handset is in their possession.

Rest assured that it is not our intention to displease you and we look forward to continue improving on our service delivery to you.

Kind Regards
Itumeleng
