Refusal to reminburse ***** on my MTN account

My phone was ****** on Saturday evening 16th of July, I reported it to MTN on Monday moring 18 July. During this time the ******* installed some bug that sent a sms from my phone every 2 seconds even though my phone was off when I tied calling. MTN did not pick up the *****, they proceed to bill me an addional ~R5500 in excess of my typical monthly bill early August. I raised the matter twice with them, both time inidicating that they will get back to within 72 hours. I have called MTN at least 5 times since logging the dispute, they never got back to me. Today I phoned again, as one clearly cannot expect one's mobile carrier to get back to you, and was informed that they will not remibure the ***** as it occured between theft and reporting the phone ******. Not only is the worst customer service imaginable but MTN are profiting at my expense as a result of ***** on my account. They have zero incremental cost to send smss, however elect to reimburse when ***** occurs on a clients account. I have been a post-paid customer of MTN for 17 years and this is the type of response one can expect from them. I will be moving my account.

Thank you for your post.

A billing query was logged with the billing team. It was rejected. Client reported the phone ****** after the billing was incurred.

Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.

Regards

Thabelo
