Reckless endangerment
I have a MTN contract for 83 y/o mother who lives alone.
Due to problems with her existing phone, I tried unsuccessfully over 4 attempts during July to process a long overdue upgrade for a new phone. I eventually gave up, and just bought a phone.
I didn't need the contract anymore, so I called to cancel. On the call with Sheleen from retentions I specifically asked if the phone will migrated to prepaid, and was assured that it would.
A week later when the cancellation eventually went through, my mother's cell service was suspended due to a RICA block (the same RICA'd sim card that's been in use for years).
I had to rush through on a 90 minute drive on a workday to come resolve this as I couldn't leave a vulnerable person disconnected, nor would it be safe for my mother to drive to a store during the pandemic.
Of course there's been no reply from MTN complaints one week later.
